Aesculapian snakes have been spotted in central London
A colony of snakes ‘capable of squeezing little children to death’ are reportedly roaming the rooftops of central London.
Approximately 30 Aesculapian snakes were seen hiding on buildings and in trees close to Regent’s Canal.
The species’ young look similar to grass snakes, which can fool people into thinking they’re harmless.
Sylvia Taylor, 33, told the Daily Star she was worried about the safety of her three children.
‘If they are capable of killing small animals then surely they could constrict small children?’ she said.
Experts believe one of the adult serpents, which are native to Europe, would have the strength to kill a small dog, although the species are generally considered to be low risk and timid around humans.
